IMPORTANT: Claims should be reported promptly, by the Insured or legal representative, to the District of Columbia Property Insurance Facility Claims Department.

Claims may be reported by phone or by submitting a Loss Report Form. In order to help facilitate processing, please provide all available information including: Your Name including Phone Number, Policy Number, Location of the Property, Date of Loss, Type of Loss. (If you have DC Homeowners insurance and loss is related to Theft it needs to be reported to police.)

The DCPIF upon receiving your claim will determine that there is an active policy. Once coverage has been confirmed the DCPIF will assign the claim to an Insurance Adjusting Company, and the assigned adjuster will contact you. The DCPIF will provide you with a Claim Acknowledgement letter.
DCPIF Adjusting Companies are not authorized to accept DCPIF loss assignments from any other source. No adjustments of losses are to be handled by your Producers. All approved loss payments will be made by the DCPIF.

The DCPIF Claim Acknowledgement letter confirms the Adjusting Company that has been assigned as well as the Claim Number we have assigned to your Claim. Included with the claim acknowledgement letter is also IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding your DUTIES AFTER LOSS.
